Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with
great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. [Acts 17:11 NIV]
Ephesians
In this study we will study Paul's Letter to the Ephesian Church; the church that Paul planted during his “Second Missionary Journey”. Please join us as we study God’s enduring Word.
This study will be conducted differently from past studies. While this study is designed to be a self-paced study completed in the comfort of your home, we will be collaboratively studying these questions and Paul’s teaching via Zoom teleconferencing. Please pray that we will “finish the race” [Acts 20:24]. Please pray that we seek wisdom, insight, and motivation from God’s Holy Spirit as we answer these questions and delve into God’s Word.
Why study Paul's Letter to the Ephesians?
Paul wrote two letters (that we know of) to Timothy, who was a beloved partner in his ministry. Included in one of Paul’s letters was this prophecy: “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” [2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NIV-1984)]
It is critical that we discover together Paul's precise meanings behind his teachings. Paul wrote this letter to the Ephesians as inspired by God’s Holy Spirit. We are not exploring God’s Holy Word as defined by today’s culture. We take James 3:1 as a serious warning: “Not many of you should presume to be teachers . . . because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” [James 3:1 (NIV-1984)]. Our teaching will be engaging, but above all, accurate.
